AMW chairman Sharif Hikmat Nashashibi was interviewed on Ireland's Newstalk 106FM on January 19 about the new audio tape allegedly of Osama bin Laden.

He was also interviewed on BBC Scotland and BBC Wales on January 22 about the Palestinian elections.

AMW director Muna Nashashibi was interviewed on January 19 on Al Alam TV about France's nuclear policy and its impact on the Middle East.

On January 20, AMW arranged an interview for US TV network ABC with Al Hayat regular columnist Jihad Khazen regarding the new bin Laden tape.

On January 11, AMW chairman Sharif Hikmat Nashashibi was a guest with the Daily Mail political editor on US TV network ABC discussing various Middle East issues.

That same day, an AMW delegation met with a distinguished panel at the BBC to discuss AMW's invited submission to the BBC's impartiality review on its coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. One member of the panel e-mailed AMW saying: "They very much appreciated the time and trouble you took both to submit your evidence and to prepare for the oral session. They enjoyed talking to you." AMW's report, based on thorough monitoring for a 1-month period of the BBC's TV, radio and online output, will be made public when our new website is launched soon.

On January 12, Nashashibi was interviewed on Al 'Alam TV about the Saudi-UAE border dispute.

That same day, the new issue of British-Arab magazine Sharq was published, containing a feature by Nashashibi on changes in the Arab diplomatic corps in the UK, and an interview by him with Al Jazeera's Riz Khan, formerly of CNN and the BBC, about his new book on Saudi prince, business tycoon and billionaire Alwaleed.

On January 13, AMW member Chris Doyle got a letter published in the Evening Standard: "You reported many disgusting comments allegedly made by Abu Hamza - but wanting a 'Muslim in the White House' in itself isn't one of them. The day the American electorate chooses a Muslim president will be a victory for inter-faith relations; surely this prospect can be no less appealing than a president who claims to talk to God?"

On November 21, AMW chairman Sharif Hikmat Nashashibi was interviewed on ABC about general developments in the Arab world, and Channel 4's new channel More4 about Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon leaving the Likud party.

On November 22, Nashashibi was interviewed on BBC 2 Newsnight about allegations of US President George Bush wanting to bomb Al Jazeera in Qatar.

On November 23, he was interviewed on the same topic by Ireland's radio station of the year, Newstalk FM.

AMW chairman Sharif Hikmat Nashashibi was interviewed on US station ABC on November 9 about the bombings in Amman, Jordan.

We are the owners of Radisson SAS Jordan. As the owners we want to send deep condolences to all the staff and guests. We are deeply shocked and obviously condemn such acts. We very briefly want to set the record straight on 2 points.

Firstly, news reports have been indicating that the Radisson SAS was specifically attacked because it is an American hotel and has hosted Israelis. I want to make it clear that the Radisson SAS is a Scandinavian chain and owned by Palestinian-Jordanians.

Furthermore, the Radisson SAS owners and staff represent the strongest supporters out of all the hotels in Jordan for the Palestinian and Iraqi people. We have expressed our support throughout the decades and will continue to do so.

AMW director attends parallel G8 summit

Director Muna Nashashibi represented AMW at the "Forum for Future" conference of NGOs in Bahrain, which discussed reform and democracy in the Arab world and concluded on November 8.

The conference comes ahead of the November 11-12 "Forum for Future", during which foreign ministers of 38 countries from the Middle East and the G8 will discuss the US-sponsored Broader Middle East and North Africa initiative.

Recommendations of the NGOs conference will be submitted to the foreign ministers of Bahrain and Britain to be discussed by the foreign ministers of the G8 and BMENA.

AMW supports launch of novel "Gate of the Sun"

Arab Media Watch, along with the International Arab Charity, is proud to support the SOAS Palestine Society and Random House in hosting Elias Khoury in presenting his latest novel.

Khoury is one of the pre-eminent intellectuals of the Arab world, who has developed from a militant Palestinian freedom fighter to one of today’s most significant Arab authors.

Chaired by renowned writer Tariq Ali and hosted by the London Middle East Institute, the event will take place on Monday November 7 at 6pm at the Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre, SOAS, University of London.
